The Huntress
Original unframed watercolor, This autumnal portrait is my great-niece in a place close to my heart… the woods of Pennsylvania. Having been born in Pennsylvania and living in the state for more than five decades, it’s a landscape remember fondly. On weekends my family would drive to take in nature’s display and visitors come to the region to experience the intensely colored fall foliage.
My great-niece Elle Sophia has a true adventure’s personality. At a young age she developed a love for sports, challenges, and high energy activities. Standing near a wooded walking trail, the pose you see is her in dressed in huntress apparel which she chose on her own. In my brisk handling of watercolor paints, I very much wanted to show the brave spirit. Elle firmly aiming her bow and arrow gives lure to a solitary fall scene.
